Having a successful business is the American dream. Many want it but few succeed. Often times businesses fail because of poor planning, no focus and limited resources.
In this article, I want to share with you 4 tools or resources that are necessary if you want your business to be successful.
- A plan – A business and marketing plan should be at the top of your list of must haves. These two pieces are your guides or road maps that will aid you in climbing to the top. If you don’t know where you are going, it can be very hard to get there. These plans will give you focus in your business.
- A support team – On your journey to financial freedom, you will need a support team. Each team member will serve a different purpose. You need someone to support you mentally. I call this person your cheerleader. Their goal is to help you stay motivated and uplifted. You will also need physical support. I like to call these team members, your worker bees. These worker bees are not afraid to roll up their sleeves and do the grunt work. Often times it may be best if the worker bees aren’t friends or family members. My recommendation is to find a virtual assistant. This will help you preserve your personal relationship and get the “behind the scenes” work completed for your business.
- A website – Having a website is an absolute must for a small business owner, especially for companies that are home-based. It adds to the credibility of your business and gives you a virtual store front or office space. Studies have shown that most purchases made by consumers and business owners originate from online research.
- A dedicated phone line – As a business owner, it is important to separate your business life from your personal life. When people call you for business they don’t want to hear Marvin Gaye’s, Let’s Get It On ringback tone. Your business line needs to be professional and so does your company voicemail.
The resources provided in this article are not the only things required to run a business but they are a great place to start.
