I can’t believe my son is finishing up his freshman year in college. As he matures, he’s beginning to remind me of myself when I was his age. His drive and determination to be successful not only makes me proud but it motivates me to push for greater heights.
The other day, he wanted to go to the book store and I decided to tag along. While at the book store, I picked up an old favorite for myself. It was “Who Moved My Cheese” by Spencer Johnson. I remember it having such a huge impact on my life when I was a young adult and I was really excited to read it again.
So it rained this past Saturday and I figured it would be the perfect time to read my book. In a couple of hours, I had completed it and when I was done, I just laid there in bed looking up at the ceiling. I couldn’t believe after all these years, the message of this short story was still strong and very relevant.
If you haven’t read the book (no matter where you are in life), read it! As I lay in my bed, I began to drift in thought. This book was me, my business, my way of life. Now I know that may sound cheesy (lol), but it was true. It talks about change and how the reaction to change affects different personalities.
So where’s the connection? Today, more companies than ever are hiring virtual assistants. They hire them because they can’t afford full-time employees or they’re looking to cut costs. The connection is that for some businesses, the cheese is hiring virtual support. You can keep trying to do things by yourself which leads to being overworked, less time to create or work on client attraction and tons of stress. If you’re stuck or spinning your wheels trying to do things alone like you’ve always done, your results will continue to be the same.
Hiring a virtual team gives you the freedom to grow your business. Don’t turn your back on the new cheese, in hopes that the old cheese will eventually pan out.
