Delegation, Automation, and Team Building: Canva Create 2025

As the co-founder of a virtual support agency, I’ve learned the importance of getting out of the day-to-day to reflect on how we lead, collaborate, and grow. My recent trip to California for Canva Create 2025 was exactly that kind of moment.

What made this event different wasn’t just the cool product announcements or vibrant design showcases (though those were amazing). It was the recurring message that echoed across keynote stages and side conversations:

“You don’t have to do everything—you just have to do what matters most.”

Delegation Isn’t Just a Skill—It’s a Strategy

At Apex Virtual Solutions, we talk about delegation every day. But Canva Create brought it to life in a new way. Whether it was a small business owner sharing how design templates saved them hours each week or a creative director walking through their automated branding system, one thing was clear:

When you delegate with intention, you unlock time, energy, and creativity.

That doesn’t mean handing off tasks just to check a box—it means building trust in your team, aligning on outcomes, and giving people the tools and autonomy to shine.

Automation Without Losing the Human Touch

There was a powerful conversation around using technology—like Canva’s new AI-powered features—to automate repetitive tasks, streamline feedback, and keep projects moving forward.

But what struck me most was the emphasis on balance. Automation should support the work, not replace the relationships. In the virtual world especially, it’s easy to over-systemize. The magic happens when automation removes friction so that people can focus on what only humans can do: think, create, and connect.

Team Building Across Time Zones

As someone who leads a remote-first company, I loved seeing how global teams are using visual tools to stay aligned, celebrate wins, and share ideas. The challenge isn’t just getting the work done—it’s building a culture when no one shares the same office space.

Tools like Canva are helping close that gap by creating shared creative spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and involved. That’s team building in action.

My Key Takeaway

Innovation and leadership aren’t about doing more—they’re about doing what matters. Delegation, automation, and team building are not separate strategies. They are part of the same equation for growth.

This trip reminded me of why I started Apex in the first place—to help leaders build businesses that don’t burn them out, and to prove that great teams can thrive no matter where they are.

So if you’ve been feeling the weight of doing it all—take a breath. Take a step back. And ask yourself:

What would happen if I let go of the “how” and focused more on the “who”?

Have you ever had a business trip or event that shifted your perspective? I’d love to hear what you learned.
